2026 Meetings

KSA Meeting: 07/18/2026

  • Open at 10:15 am
  • Last month's campout was good fellowship, with minimal meeting topics involving scheduling today's meeting. Next month's meeting will be August 22, after the coordinate council meeting. Brad asked for set up help for that morning. Doors open at 1000, meeting at 1100. Graeme will be here at 8am for set up. Graeme will be at the Grand Commander's Fellows Workshop in DC the prior weekend.
  • There have been several deaths in the families of some of our members.
  • We need to work on getting in more petitions for reunions, along with getting more people into blue lodge. There are tons of tools, social media options, events, etc.
  • Bryce is working on finding a good evening for a movie night here.
  • Fairfield and Decorah's lodges met for a presentation in Fairfield on Masonic history this past Thursday.

  • Old business- acquired large safety pins for field knights and ribbons for officer medallions.
  • Determined that we would acquire 10 blackwatch sashes to begin with, at $7 each.
  • Discussed progress on Seminole Valley, additional help needed, and possibly pairing our barbeque with a day of repair for the volunteers
  • Phoenix SR has completed MC-symbolic, and we now have a template for group mastercraftsman courses, that we can emulate for those that want to take the courses but need help. This will work for all of the MC courses EXCEPT philosophy.
  • Moment of silence for Paul Anderson, Don Stamy, and Squire Buresh's brother.
  • New Business-Degree performances to be done in other valley's, dates and times tbd

  • Iowa city #4 is looking for help with a 2nd degree, July 14th at 7pm
  • Potential of doing the October coordinate council meeting at iowa city 4. This is not yet confirmed.

  • Scott asked for a volunteer to judge degrees at the fall reunion. Bubba volunteered
  • Discussion of a recognition for founding members of our Valley's KSA.

  • Mizpah lodge is installing a plaque, and inquiring about tools. Bro. Scott offered tools, and was able to answer their questions.
  • Minutes for February read.
  • Showed the first shirt designs Bro. Ricardo had found. Agreed on logo, text to read “cedar Rapids chapter st Andrew” or variant. Inquiry if variable style would work. Black or Wallace green choices.
  • Agreed on barbeque idea from John. Bryce will start making arrangements to coordinate with available vendor locations. He will also nail down dates, and look into coordinating to coincide with the bonding brothers event. May 31st, tentative date.
  • Discussed mastercraftman.
  • Tim Felton's message regarding recruitment was read and discussed.
  • April meeting needs rescheduled due to easter. April meeting tentatively rescheduled to the previous week (12th), check with Amy for availability. Dan will coordinate with amy on availability.
  • Cabins for all weekends around normal date for camp out are already booked up. Alternatives are going to be, potentially, cost prohibitive. Look at alternatives.
  • Request that we look into scheduling a table lodge. Dan is excited to be in charge of this.
  • Discussed Taylor Merfeld standing in for orator on the 6th degree, Tuesday.

  • Public Field Knighting of Squires Eric Hubert and Bryce Buckalew.
  • Report on the success of the open December meeting at the Ox Yoke Inn, and discussion of topics to be addressed at the next stated meeting, including additional public and Masonic outreach possibilities, and general goals for the ensuing year.
  • At 2pm, the meeting was paused in order for the Knights to participate in the Installation of Officers for Mizpah Lodge #639 upstairs, after which the Knights invited Mizpah Lodge and their guests to the Installation of Officers for KSA.
  • Installation of KSA Officers saw Knights Emeritus Scott Miller and Jon Hilliard acting as Installing Officer and Installing Marshal, respectively.
  • VM Alex Ward concluded the ceremony and meeting with a restatement of his primary goals for the ensuing year, and inviting all in attendance to join in a celebratory gathering at The Blind Pig.

    Meeting notes: more planning for the upcoming Valentine's dinner and dance. We are getting good response on RSVPs so we are allowing rsvp to February 8th 2023, please make sure you check the Scottish rite website out. There have been many postings regarding this. The hotel room block rate will discontinue on 2/3/23. If you're planning on staying overnight, you need to make your reservations before then or that price will not be guaranteed. I need all black hats to attend that can possibly make it. There is also a new event plan for February 25th at 9:30 a.m. this is at the Masonic library in Cedar Rapids private tour, Scott was able to get this set up. looking forward to it myself. Lot of things going on including the campground weekend in Morwood in July more information to come.


    2022 Meetings

    KSA meeting: 12/17/2022

    Meeting notes: we had a great meeting great group of brethren, discussed the venue coming up on February 18th , dinner dance made great progress lot of moving parts, also discussed future events, such as getting input of different activities to get involved with. further discussion will take place, also getting involved consistory meetings. We also discussed setting up a block hotel rooms at a discounted rate. For people out of town who might want to stay overnight. Today have made calls for hotels information for that , additional info will be coming. We did get a commitment from the Order of Demolay for their assistance during for dinner dance. Big shout out to those boys. More brethren are getting involved which is great!

    Meeting notes: Valentine's dance is going to be February 18th details will be coming soon via email. hats in shirts are being ordered. Menu for Valentine's dance was set in place. knights ceremony will take place before the dance after February 18th 1:00 meeting. Need to pass the word get everybody involved please.

    KSA meeting: 10/15/2022

    Meeting notes: Conversation about upcoming fall reunion, regarding everybody needed as possible. Again discussion regarding shirts being ordered. Do not have exact details yet pending. More discussion regarding camping trip more discussion regarding and possibly scheduling the car show, Terry and Scott will be discussing those details further regarding the car show itself. As we get more details we will inform as soon as possible.

    KSA meeting: 09/17/2022

    Verbal summary of meeting: Discussed the upcoming fall reunion regarding getting as many members as possible, discussion regarding continuing outreach contacting some of the new members .Further discussion on shirts. Further planning and next year's camp out at Morwood campground, possibly changing the date. Looking at the weekend before that is already scheduled, And trying to coordinate a car show at the campgrounds that same weekend. plans are being worked on.

    KSA meeting: 07/30/2022

    Verbal summary of meeting: We will order the ball caps with the new design on the front and the square compass on the back 20 hats half royal blue half black with the Hawkeye gold thread. We will go ahead and order 20 shirts and royal blue polos with the Hawkeye gold thread ranging the sizes between 1 and potentially 4X although we will need at least one or two 5x shirts double check on cost between normal and tall shirts. Currently planning on doing next year's camp out here at Norwood again.
